Built mostly in the 1970s and 1980s, the neighborhood north of Northwest Highway is a mix of thousands of apartments, shopping centers, offices and other commercial uses. Some of the apartment communities serve to revitalize an entire neighborhood in northeast Dallas. Many of the apartments built in the 1970s are being renovated and will be replaced with mixed-use redevelopments. The high-density development at Park Lane and North Central Expressway will contain hundreds of apartments and condominiums and more than 500,000 square feet of shops, hotel rooms and offices. This area offers two of the largest apartment communities in Dallas, the 44-acre Timbercreek apartments at the north corner of Northwest Highway and Skillman, with more than 1,000 apartments. The other is a 33-acre mixed-use complex at Park Lane. This area offers nearly 80 apartment communities, with rents averaging $611.30 and average square footage of 822. |
